The Untold Stories: Tony Blair’s Remarks on Rwanda Deceptive and elusive
Rwandans of all walks of life will struggle till the dying day to forgive Tony Blair for his despicable piece of praise and abstinence on the question whether Kagame should change the Constitution to award himself the Third Term after his constitutional mandate ends in 2017.
Tony Blair with Paul Kagame two dishonest wrinkled men
The former British Prime Minister and now a special advisor to President Kagame was confronted with question of what advice is giving his friend President Kagame after his term ends in 2017, Tony without mincing words he said that the Third Term is for Rwanda and Rwandans. He further said that sometimes it’s better for advisors to abstain from giving advice to their Bosses. What a deceptive and elusive remark from a former British Prime Minister who has been all along praising the Rwandan ruler as a new breed of African leaders who come rain or sunshine Kagame will give power after his term expires in 2017.
Mr. Blair was in Rwanda for an official visit after touring what the RPF regime calls the largest solar photovoltaic power plant in the region. According to the government of Rwanda the solar plant will generate 8.5-megawatts, located at Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwamagana District. Mr. Blair as usual poured more sugar on what he calls Rwanda economic miracles, “It’s a very ambitious goal but it’s possible. Acceleration of the time table is always about the government having the right focus, discipline and determination, the good thing about this government is that it’s absolutely focused on doing this,” Blair said.
Apparently the Rwanda government said the solar plant has cost $23.7 million, it will be the first of its kind in the region and the third in Africa after the ones in South Africa and Mauritius, and will provide electricity for over 15,000 Rwandan households. However, as deceptive and corrupt RPF regime is with its backers will always hide their loot under the cover of development. Very few Rwandans will have the guts to question Blair or Kagame, what happened to a similar Electricity Hydro-Power of Rukara II which was not only looted by Kagame and his close confidants, but they blocked investigation that was being carried out by the Parliament.
The Rukara Hydro power project was supposed to produce 9.2 MW capacities, but instead the Dam produced 5 MW, why Kagame and his agents have never been brought to book for the financial malpractices in this project?
As usual Kagame uses such projects to embezzle public money because he knows that no Rwandan on the Rwandan soil will dare ask or whisper the Kagame’s name “the great leader”. Similarly a multibillion cooking oil factory in Kayonza District, Mount Meru Syco, has been forced to operate under capacity due to shortage of soya bean. This project took a lot of the tax payer’s money, why should it close or operate under capacity just after few months?
Patel Brijesh, the chief finance officer, told Business Times, that part of the processing plant is currently closed as they wait for more supplies of 6,000 metric tonnes of soya bean to operate for at least one month.
The factory last week managed to secure 3,000 metric tonnes of the raw materials, he said.
“We need about 200 metric tonnes of soya bean per day to operate at full capacity. The 3,000 metric tonnes we have in stock will last for only 15 days. It’s unfortunate farmers have not taken advantage of the market we are providing them,” Brijesh said.
For those who don’t know how the Kigali looters under the Chief whip President Kagame and of course their backers like Tony, this should open your eyes, Rwanda debt after genocide with all the Aid and writing off the previous debt, our country is again ranked one of the heavily indebted nations on earth. Kagame because of the poor human rights record and sanctions of Aid or problems with IMF and World Bank he resorted to sovereign bonds which are not only expensive in interest rates compared to other World Financial Institutions, but have put a big burden on the Rwandan taxpayer and their generations.
As I have mentioned above, Mr. Blair is widely known for his deception and lies when it comes to the support of his interests. For example without Blair’s claims of fantasy WMDs with which Iraq could wreak annihilation in “45 minutes”, a lie quoted by General Colin Powell at the United Nations exactly twelve years ago, 5th February 2003, for the children of Iraq a genocidal “preventable cause” might have been avoided.
“Nutritious food and clean water”, had, of course, been deliberately destroyed on US Central Command’s order to bomb all water facilities in Iraq in 1991. Food was poisoned by the use of Depleted Uranium (DU) weapons, contaminating all fauna and flora. DU’s “half-life” is 4.5 Billion years. And it is not “depleted.”
The contamination nightmare was compounded in orders of magnitude by the further use of DU weapons in 2003, used again by the UK under Blair’s government.
Befoulment of air, water and food for infinity condemns future generations of unborn, new born and developing children in Iraq and the region to a poisoned legacy of cancers and deformities for generations to come. War crimes unequalled in history.
Moreover: “The special investigator of the UN Sub-Committee on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights has declared DU munitions illegal under existing humanitarian law. DU weapons also produce a toxic metal fume (sic) that violates the Geneva Protocol on the Use of Gas in War, which the US signed in 1975.”
On Tony Blairs watch, the death of the British leading weapons inspector, Dr David Kelly, whose life ended in the cold, lonely wood where he was found the next morning, his left wrist cut open, and three nearly-empty blister packs of painkillers in his jacket pocket. To this very day, his death has remained a mystery and many questions have remained unanswered on the actual cause of his death.
If Mr. Blair was a good leader as he claims why his government lost power to the conservatives? Why did he leave power prematurely? Why doesn’t he advise President Kagame to open political space and allow free and independent Political parties to operate so that Rwandans could have a variety of choice?
Most alarming but not mentioned by Mr. Blair is the integral role that Kagame has or is playing in all the conflicts in Congo which has claimed upward of six million lives. The Kagame government gave and has continued to give significant support to rebels within the Congo, especially in the mineral-rich north. There, the objective was and is widely to secure the valuable resources of the region which have been trafficked through Rwanda and have enriched Kagame and his immediate family, in-laws and friends.
Indeed, Tony Blair (who called Kagame a “visionary leader”), Bill Clinton (“one of the greatest leaders of our time”), Clare Short (“such a sweetie”) and Howard Schultz, chief executive of Starbucks, was persuaded to invest in Rwanda by Kagame lobbyists. With people like Tony Blair twisting words for reasons beyond the ordinary Rwandan knowledge, the onus is for Rwandans to resist any attempt by the Kagame and Blairs to overthrow the Rwandan Constitution.
