We have been stack with many Trumps in Africa for many years. The U.S and the West in general have been in Love with Murderous Dictators and Hate for Democracy in Africa for many years. The rise of illiterate Id Amin of Uganda in 1970s was supported by the West and US in Particular. Millions of people around the world are overwhelmed and encouraged by the popular uprisings against U.S.-imposed dictatorship regimes on the African continent.

The U.S. government backed and financed murderous dictators around the world. From the fascist Augusto Pinochet in Chile to the criminal regime of François Duvalier and his son Jean-Claude (“Baby Doc”) in Haiti to the corrupt Rafael Trujillo in the Dominican Republic to the murderous Ferdinand Marcos in the Philippines to the criminal Mobutu Sese Seko of the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) to Indonesia’s mass murderer Suharto to the vicious Shah Reza Behlavi in Iran.

Yet what is lacking is any serious examination of the complicity of the U.S. government and its allies in supporting murderous regimes. Far from promoting stability and democracy, the U.S. is the source of instability and an enemy of democracy.

The rise of Kagame in Rwanda has been funded by the US and Kagame has been flying to US using a private jet while his own people are starving to death. Kagame has suffocated democracy and the free media. It’s only in Rwanda and Africa in general that a Business man like Trump will never stand for presidency in his own country.

The Nigerian tycoon Chief Mashood Abiola in 1993 ran for president and was believed to be winning when the military halted the election and annulled the vote.  A year later, Abiola claimed the presidency. Accused of treason, he was imprisoned, reportedly under harsh conditions and later died in prison.  Indeed, in Rwanda any business man that opposes the status quo of the RPF policy is assassinated, the late Rwigara Assinapol was murdered and his wealth confiscated his building complex demolished.

Another progressive tycoon that was instrumental in financing the RPF during its Bush war struggle, Rujugiro Ayabatwa was exiled and his property worth 20Million US Dollars was confiscated by the RPF regime. The list is endless, but Rwandans and the rest of Africa are suffering because of the so called bad leaders the American protesters are opposing despite the fact that Trump is not even given the chance to lead.

In welcoming Mubarak to the White House on July 30, 1996, former U.S. president Bill Clinton said: “I don’t think we would be where we are today if it weren’t for President Mubarak … We believe that working together we can help to bring more prosperity to the Egyptian people … I thank you for your wise counsel, your strong leadership, and your iron determination … I especially want to thank President Mubarak for Egypt’s partnership in the peace process and for playing a critical role in our efforts here”.

Moreover, most Western leaders remained faithful to Mubarak to the last minute and no one wanted him to go. From Barack Obama to David Cameron to Angela Merkel to Nicolas Sarkozy to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, everyone was happy with an “orderly and peaceful transition” from Mubarakism to Mubarakism without Mubarak.

The successor of Mr. Mubarak , who was accused by the Pro-American military regime Mr. Mohamed Morsi was sentenced  to death by the Murakism. In fact the overthrow of President Morsi was given an American interpretation  by Secretary of State John Kerry as un constitutional removal of an elected government but not a coup. This was meant to bend rules that the new Egyptian military government does get American sanctions

Finally, the U.S. love affair with murderous dictators should remind all Americans that are out on the streets that what they feel about Trump is what many Africans are going and have been going through for many years.

The goal of the African people should be the total eradication of U.S.-imposed murderous dictators. Only this will steer the African Continent on an independent and sovereign path and allow all Africans to enjoy democracy, freedom and equality.
