Kagame Inciting Violence, Mugesera set Precedent
Mugesera with Kagame next to him
The Kagame’s utterance during the closing ceremony of Students of higher institutions of learning at the Convention Complex was inciting violence and criminal. When Dr. Leo Mugesera made similar utterance in 1992 that after Two years caused genocide was found guilty, in the same way Kagame should be prosecuted for similar reasons that his utterance could cause massacre of innocent Rwandans.
Again similar utterance was made by President Habyarimana who said that he will move with Interahamwe to do the work of killing innocent people, Kagame’s Interahamwe changed to Intore, have been urged to kill whoever disagrees with the Rwandan ruler. Why should you be ashamed of fighting for your country? However, Kagame’s message was clear; the cost of disagreeing with him is death. When he killed Col. Patrick Karegeya he said he didn’t do it but he wished he had done it “You can’t betray Rwanda and not get punished for it,” he told a prayer meeting on 12 January. “Anyone, even those still alive, will reap the consequences. Anyone. It is a matter of time.”
Apart from the killing message, President Kagame urged the Rwandan Youth to use social media as a tool of defending their country, “you should not have good ideas and keep them secret, you should rather put them in action and that’s how they will bear fruits” he said.
This saying by the Head of State to the youth is venomous, vicious, crass, blunt and offensive make no mistake they cross the legal line and make him liable for inciting violence. It is in the same context that Dr. Leo Mugesera is accused of the words he said at a meeting in Kabaya, Gisenyi in 1992, where he said that the Tustsi should be returned to Abyssinia through a shortcut; to his followers this meant killing the Tutsis and dump them in River Nyabarongo.
Does Mugesera words different from Kagame?
In fact the words of President Kagame as a Head of State carry more weight than Dr. Leo Mugesera who was just a mere MRD Chairman at the time, Kagame’s words are not only implemented by his followers but they become rules and could be used by either security forces or judiciary to kill or incarcerate innocent Rwandans.
Kagame’s panic and paranoia is derived from the neighboring country in Burundi were he has been interfering since President Nkurunziza announced his bid for the third term, he has been killing in Burundi without retaliation from the Burundi government, just recently he provoked the Burundi government by killing innocent civilians and ordered the repatriation of the bodies to the government of Burundi.
Surprisingly the Burundi government was very restraint and never retaliated, this has been burning inside Kagame because he doesn’t know what the Burundi government is cooking for him. Kagame’s power lies in intimidation, he will continue to do the same until he gets a trigger to invade his neighbor because he never appreciates the consequences of taking his country to war. His Arrogance and ignorance will be his legacy, but he should refrain from using the Rwandan youth to fight his personal wars.
