Aime Ntabana was kidnapped from his home in National Housing flats in Namungoona, Kampala Uganda.  Ntabana left Rwanda after setting up an online news paper known as www. igihe.com, he was instructed by Gen Jack Nziza not to publish any negative news about the Rwandan government. Ntabana declined to change his strategy and informed the general that he was not willing to go against the truth, Gen Jack Nziza told him to sell the online news to the directorate of military intelligence or lose it.

Ntabana Ntabana later agreed to sell the news line, which is now owned by military intelligence service (DMI). He left the country and went into exile in Uganda. While in Uganda he engaged in farming and doing business, he however continued to stay in touch with families and friends until mid may when he disappeared. His fellow asylum seekers in Uganda fear that Ntabana might have been killed since it’s over a month when they last heard from him.

We spoke to an asylum seeker who preferred a pseudonym of Paul who reported that Lt Col Burabyo of the Rwandan embassy in Uganda knows exactly what happened to Aime Ntabana, because he was looking for him since March. Some reported to inyenyerinews that they have been warned by Lt Col James Burabyo to leave Uganda immediately or he will kidnap them any time.

The Asylum seekers also claim that General Ibingira, a former commander of the Rwandan reserve force is heading the squad that lures Rwandan Asylum seekers and kidnaps them. Apollo David Kazungu, the Commissioner for refugees in the Office of the Prime Minister said that he was not aware of the alleged kidnap of Ntabana. Our attempts to speak to Frank Mugambage, the Rwandan Ambassador in Kampala were futile as his phone went unanswered.

It is not the first time for asylum seekers and refugees to be kidnapped in Uganda, in 2011 the chief editor of inyenyerinews was shot dead in Kampala night club, also SGT Nsanzabaganwa was kidnapped later after that, an attempt to kill Lt Mutabazi Yoweri also followed in 2012.

Inyenyerinews will continue to investigate on the disappearance of our fellow Rwandans in foreign countries haunted down by the people who should be protecting them.
