ALBERT RUDATSIMBURWA: THE BLIND FANATIC!
It appears that the Kigali regime is at a loss for quality journalism by the look of its recent articles in The New Times Newspaper. Despite their revamped website, thanks to mercenary Andrew Mwenda (We shudder to think of the zeroes on his juicy cheque that he took to the bank), they either forgot or purposely opted not to hire smart independent journalists to match their makeover!
As I perused The New Times issue of August 16 2012 I read, in amusement, an article by Albert Rudatsimburwa Bryon, whose shallow article did very little to analyse the UN report that accuses Rwanda of supporting the M23 rebellion in Congo but dwelt instead on castigating and abusing Steve Hege (one of the report’s authors) and calling for his removal from the UN Group of Experts. This journalist also identifies himself as a Media owner and Manager at the end of the article. So, we ask, who is Albert Rudatsimburwa? Is he a seasoned journalist? Why does he fervently castigate Mr. Hege?
Albert Rudatsimburwa is best known as a local musician strumming his guitar on the Kigali nightclub circuit with Mutsar Murefu, Jeannette Kagame’s older brother, up until our first lady plucked him off the street to become the face of Contact FM which she owns. No wonder he says he is a media owner. Yet, how does a local guitar player find himself sitting with Former President Bush?
President Kagame and his wife know that in order to win the public relations war one needs to invest heavily in both local and international media, hence, all Government and big Business advertising goes primarily toContact FM and all the “breaking stories†emanate from Contact FM (It is privy to many Government reports, press releases). For example, when President Paul Kagame won the 2010 elections, he gave his one and only interview to Contact FM, which was conducted by the formidable Andrew Mwenda.
Albert Rudatsimburwa is also the proud owner of “The Exposerâ€Â website, an empty foul-spitting rag whose main objective is to insult President Kagame’s obsession, namely, Theogene Rudasingwa, Kayumba Nyamwasa, Patrick Karegeya, Gerald Gahima and Tribert Rujugiro as well as anyone else who dare to criticize the Kigali regime.
The article in the state-run New Times newspaper attacking Steve Hege is a watered down version of the same one he wrote/published for the “the Exposer.â€
His media company is also a recipient of large Government grants to organize FESPAD, the African Music and Dance Festival. It is noteworthy to mention that Jean Mutsar (The President’s brother in law) is actually the real owner of the GREAT LAKES MEDIA but due to his dependence on alcohol and substance abuse, Albert is De Facto Manager, even though Albert doesn’t mind the occasional an occasional mind altering substance as well.
Albert, people who live in glass houses should not throw stones! Your bread is well buttered, sit down quietly and eat it in peace.
