The Untold Stories: Kagame ordered murder of Nyamitwe.
The murder attempt of the Burundi’s President Senoiur aide Willy Nyamitwe was planned and hatched in Kigali on the orders of President Kagame.
Willy Nyamitwe has been and he is still a thorn in the Kagame’s throat because of his eloquence and judgment on in issues in Burundi and Great Lakes Region. When Kagame supported the aborted Coup in 2015 against the Nkurunziza government while he was attending the East African summit in Tanzania attended by also Kagame, it was Willy Naymitwe who was in charge and worked hard to reverse the coup.
Therefore, the assassination of Willy Nyamitwe did not come as a surprise since Kagame vowed to eliminate all the allies of President Nkurunziza including General Adolph Nshimirimana. Indeed, he was regarded as very close to Nkurunziza, having served with him in the CNDD-FDD armed rebellion against the previous governments.
Nkurunziza’s troubles began when he insisted on running for a third term last year – despite the two-term limits in the constitution and the Arusha peace accords according to his opponents. However, it’s inconceivable how President Kagame who has changed the Rwandan Constitution to stand for the same term has got involved in the internal affairs of Burundi.
Kagame has publicly opposed the Third Term of President Nkurunziza, the Rwandan President while attending the 45th St Gallen Symposium in Switzerland. He advised his Burundian counterpart, Pierre Nkurunziza to listen to citizens concerns first, before clinging on power. “If your own citizens tell you we don’t want you to lead us, how do you say I am staying whether you want me or not,” Kagame said.
President Kagame is not a stranger in destabilizing his neighbors, since 1996 he has been destabilizing the DR CONGO using both is military and proxy armed forces like M23 that has killed women and children estimated to 6 million. Kagame has been denying involvement of his forces or supporting these armed militias despite all the findings by UN Military experts and the mapping report.
While he has been in power directly and indirectly since the RPF captured power in 1994 after the Genocide of the Tutsis, the Rwandan president Paul Kagame, has said that he did not want a third term in office but had to bow to entreaties from his people, who were not ready to say goodbye to the architect of the nation’s recovery from the 1994 genocide.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum on Africa in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, the president said he was aware that changing the constitution to allow him to run again would draw international criticism but had little say in the matter.
The changes, which technically allow Kagame to stay until 2034, were approved in a December referendum by a 98% majority that Rwanda’s tiny opposition and western diplomats said was suspiciously high. Kagame is a tyrant, whose RPF owns not only the nation’s wealth but also life and death of every Rwandan. Kagame is called “Bakame” this a story told in Rwandan books of a canning animal that used all tricks for survival.
During a panel discussion chaired by his most high-profile international supporter and advisor the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Kagame said “By the way, I didn’t ask for this thing. “I was actually trying to tell my people: ‘You know what, there’s room – can’t you find someone else? You need to take a risk and look for someone else.’ “And they kept saying: ‘No. We are not ready to take risks. We want you to stay.’ I said: ‘But I’m having difficulties staying.’”
Kagame is now running out of time since the new administration in Washington will not be supportive of his dictatorial attitude and destabilization of his neighbors, besides Russia has recently vowed to support Nkurunziza in the same way it has supported Syria to finish off the rebels supported by the West. Kagame is a ruthless killer and he has exported his methods of killing to his neighbors, it’s time for neighbors to work with Rwandans to resist this madness.
