The Untold Stories: Andrew Mwenda Deceptive and Opportunistic on Rwanda – Uganda Politics
In the Independent Magazine of Sunday, 03 August 2014 21:52 By Andrew M. Mwenda partly funded by the Kagame business empire he compares the Rwandan politics and Uganda where he suggests that Uganda can emulate Rwandan on power sharing “ Can Uganda emulate Rwanda politics?”
Andrew Mwenda Kagame’s Mouth piece: Even though it is speculated that Mwenda is gay he remains with his wife to avoid stigmatisation, he continues to hide it. Our investigators will bring out full details soon.
Mr Andrew Mwenda argues that the Rwandan so called power sharing has worked and according to him this project could be imported to Uganda. “How power sharing in Rwanda has worked and the lessons Ugandan politicians can draw from it for our good just imagine that you wake up tomorrow morning and find the following in Uganda: Yoweri Museveni is still president of the country. His vice president is Mugisha Muntu. The speaker of parliament is Olara Otunnu. Museveni has just reshuffled cabinet and replaced Amama Mbabazi with Nobert Mao as prime minister. The deputy speaker of parliament is Nandala Mafabi. And Kahinda Otafiire is deputy prime minister. All these men are not yelling and shouting at each other. Well this is because of the above power-sharing arrangement. To make it work, there is something called a Political Parties Forum where differences between the different political parties over public policy are debated and final positions are adopted entirely through consensus.”
It is unfortunate that Andrew Mwenda is comparing parallel political experiments knowing and deliberately or opportunistically deceiving the people he intends to feed his information. Let me start with what Andrew Mwenda calls Political Parties Forum, this Mega Forum has no consensus as Mwenda tries to convince his audience. On the contrary there is RPF dominance and its proxies who pretend to be opposition who are just there for display for foreign political shopping. The Rwandan Urugwiro (State House) with its remote control dictates what policy they want to pass and the so called Political Forum will unanimously endorse it. Is that the consensus Mr. Mwenda is trying to feed the Ugandans?
Let me remind Mr. Mwenda that after the fall of Lutwa government in 1986, the same type of government was introduced by the NRM government, it only split when the Uganda government went mulit- party system. It is worth Noting that Andrew mentions the former Prime Minister Bernard Makuza who according to him was from MDR, a party that dissolved itself, this is not true, MDR was impotent even before it was dissolved by the RPF because they tried to remain independent ideologically which RPF found unpalatable. Indeed, this man Makuza during the presidential election campaign of Kagame in 2010, he was RPF, wearing RPF flags throughout the whole campaign which saw Kagame emerging with 96% which according to Andrew was free and fair.
Mr. Andrew Mwenda has lost or sold the path of professionalism, he has been overridden by greed and opportunism, and he deliberately distorts even any information that is obvious to a lay man in the village in Toro where he comes from. The power sharing phenomenon is not peculiar to Kagame and RPF as Andrew tries to portray it, in fact the former Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana with his MRND Party had introduced what they called “MOVEMENT” which worked very well until the RPF invasion in 1990 and subsequent assassination by RPF in 1994 which ended with genocide of the Tutsi. How can Mwenda try to convince his Ugandan audience that this is Kagame’s invention?
All Rwandans and perhaps Ugandans know very well how much Andrew has sold his professionalism to Kagame to praise him and promote his dictatorship by sexing up or sugarcoating all atrocities and crimes against humanity both in Rwanda and Congo. Andrew should be ashamed for defending Kagame publicly on the NTV Uganda after the tragic assassination of the former Rwandan Spy Chief Col. Patrick Karegeya last year in South Africa. According to Mwenda, Patrick being a former spy, Kagame had a right to go to another country to strangle in a hotel. This is not only absurd but will eventually cost Mwenda dearly in terms of professionalism and trust.
Again, according to Mwenda. Kagame side-stepped the Constitution in order to foster “unity” this is not true, Kagame is a benevolent dictator who does not tolerate any different view from his. The intention of amending the 2004 Constitution, Andrew should be honest enough to tell his audience that arrangement for a constitutional change was detrimental to the Rwandan political class and the public. Therefore Kagame cannot be the omnipotent of Rwanda, after changing the Constitution to quench his thirsty for power.
Indeed, Andrew Mwenda is not only distorting facts but is also doing a disservice to the Rwandan people; therefore Mwenda should stop lying about things he knows. All those people Kagame appointed and those he fired are only opposition on paper. They exist to give Kagames agents like Mwenda something to write about. Let Kagame announce a cabinet with Twagiramungu Fausitin, Kayumba Nyamwasa, Rudasingwa Theogene, Ingabire, to cabinet and you can start talking of opposition working with government.
Let me remind Andrew, that the Rwandan opposition has been murdered by Kagame in the same way he murders his political opponents. Indeed, those which are not dead are in exile or gagged. Not in parliament. The list of opposition politicians whose heads have been cut off in Rwanda, or those who live life in perpetual fear in exile, is endless! But you know that very well. You are a smart man making money by fooling people. While Kagame has been praised for zero tolerance for corruption because it is his RPF and Himself who embezzle the taxpayer’s money, he has not hidden his zero tolerance for opposition
Mr. Mwenda should stop assuming that everyone is on his level of hunger for money, power and actualization to the extent that they could sell their beliefs to become mental slaves of his pay masters. Some people would rather die than sale themselves like prostitutes and I applaud them for that. The vision of democratic Rwanda and East Africa will remain strong regardless of the noisy but pointless paid opinions of good for nothing sellouts like you. Enjoy the fruits of your lies but remember whatever goes up, must come down.
