A weak and splintered opposition is making it difficult for Rwandans to deal with the prevailing economic and political crisis in the country. While Thomas Nahimana has tried and in fact done what very few in opposition could dare to do, the Rwandan opposition is sharpening their political machetes against this brave man.

The Rwandan opposition is engulfed in a lot of political conspiracy theories against this Priest turned politician that he has been bought by the RPF so that he can boost the Kagame staged elections.  The crisis in the country demands that opposition parties work together.

Do the Rwandan opposition parties recognise their state of weak and splintered unity that has, so far, failed to coordinate a serious response to the Rwandan crisis?

The opposition should be committed to building a broad coalition of all the political parties in the country in order for them to create a better Rwandan.

They should be committed to do all that is necessary to achieve this noble objective whose time has come, for the benefit of all Rwandans. Indeed, they should finalise the modalities for the coalition before the coming elections, they need a strong and broad alliance

The old parties should support Thomas Nahimana and rally behind him rather than spreading false prophesies and rumors which will only serve Kagame and RPF interest.

Mr. Nahimana was prevented to enter Rwanda last year on the pretext that he will not only plant a mustard seed of hatred in Rwanda but also spread the gospel of genocide ideology. If Mr. Nahimana was a mole for RPF as the conspiracy theory of the Rwandan opposition is trying to portray, why was he denied from entering in his mother country?

We therefore, appeal to all the opposition to put aside their differences and reach an agreement before the coming elections so that they put a strong resistance against the dictatorial regime of Kagame and RPF.

The issue of who would lead the coalition should not divide the opposition because the problem for Rwandans is the monster Kagame who has used all the tax payer’s money to kill or incarcerate Rwandans within the country and abroad.

They should rather be focusing on rescuing the political space and economy which is on a free fall. The country is in a monumental crisis that had been caused by a total failure of Kagame and RPF lead leadership.

This state of political affairs in Rwanda presents a form of an economic meltdown, abject poverty, violence and intimidation which is forcing citizens to live in fear and total disregard for the rule of law.

While the RPF and its global allies are good at doctoring (tekinika) statistics to show that the Rwandan economy is matching forward, the ordinary citizens cannot afford a meal. Yet even those who strive to make a living from a small business that is not sanctioned by the RPF will be fought by the government or killed by the local militia on the pretext of keeping Kigali clean.

Indeed, RPF and Kagame have created also a state of impunity and lack of accountability as well as conflation of the ruling party which led to state capture.

The RPF government is blocking people with the necessary expertise from proffering solutions to the country’s political and economic problems.

Rwanda has a lot of people who could stir the country out of its quagmire but is being side-lined by the RPF and the infighting of the opposition. We beat all the political drums of the opposition that it’s the right time to work together and remove the Rwandan monster in the same way Gambians have removed Yahya Jammeh. Mr. Nahimana deserves all the necessary support and all Rwandans should emulate him not fight him because what Nahimana will deliver is for all

  1. If Nahimana is jailed the opposition should fight for his innocence and his release rather than rallying against him.
  2. If Nahimana joins Kagame’s gangs then the opposition will have to move on and accept that they have lost one of their great men, or who knows Nahimana will pressurize the kagame system internally
  3. If Nahimana is killed by Kagame, then the opposition will demand the answers as to why one of their brave men has been killed

It is therefore important that the rest of the opposition parties and political organisations send their candidates to Rwanda, this is because Kagame’s candidacy is illegal and all parties should have brave men to stand against him. Kagame will arrest them or kill them but that’s how change starts, dictators are pressurized internally not externally. The opposition need to avoid repeating the same mistakes of biting each other this has been going on for so long, and finally use all measures to push Kagame out but not just social media and discussing historical killings on online radios. There is more to address internally which are current issues, otherwise unite or you will perish.
