Rwandan National Congress, RNC strongly condemns the arrest and the denial of the due process to Ret.Brig Gen Frank Rusagara, Col Tom Byabagamba, Ret. Capt David Kabuye, and sgt. Kabayiza the driver of Brig Gen Rusagara.

Today the Rwandan Military Court arraigned the former military officers after more than a week after they were arrested.  These three individuals were denied the right to bail, and their cases were continued for a future date, while the accused remains incarcerated.

RNC condemns this form of injustice that has become business as usual by the Rwandan government.

It should be also noted that, upon arrest of the mentioned officers, no charges were known to them and to the public, which justify the delays the government took in fabricating them.

Several individuals have been accused of trump up charges and jailed.  The list include the famous singer Kizito Mihigo, Lt. Mutabazi and his co accused, and many more. Their only crime was because they were suspected to collaborate with opposition parties. Today, those suspects remain in jail with no rights to bail, visitation, and due process.

We ask the government to release them unconditionally.
