Museveni Meets Kiir at Entebbe as Machar Plans Juba Onslaught
President Yoweri Museveni and Salva Kiir together with officials from both countries met o Saturday at State House in Entebbe
The South Sudan President Salva Kiir on Saturday rushed to Kampala to meet his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The visit was kept unvoiced by the two nations and only emerged when Kiir arrived at State House Entebbe accompanied by three other officials from his faction in the Transitional Government of National Unity.
Kiir who was received by the Uganda’s Foreign Affairs minister Sam Kutesa was immediately ushered to a meeting with SPLA’s long-time friend, Museveni.
In the meeting, Museveni expectedly had his Defense minister Adolf Mwesige and Finance Minister Matia Kasaija.
The agenda and the details of the meeting are yet to emerge. The development however comes at a time when South Sudan is sliding back to internal conflict.
The capital Juba and other hot spots in the country have been experiencing clashes between the government and opposition forces of Dr. Riek Machar who has sensitively disappeared since the beginning of the resumed violence.
Fighting started between the two factions on 7th July 2016 and worsened on 8th when bodyguards of Kiir and Machar clashed at the presidential palace instantly killing 300 people mostly soldiers.
Kiir’s appearance in Uganda also comes at a time when his rival Dr. Machar is said to be organizing his army and the allied feared militia, the White Army for an onslaught aiming at the administrative seat in Juba. ChimpReports is following the development.
State House publicist Don Wanyama described the meeting as part of the “push to find solution to South Sudan.”
