In a bid to deescalate the tension between Internal Security Organisation (ISO) and Police, President Museveni has quietly directed an elite force of armed personnel to take over security at the residence of Christine Mbabazi Muhoza, the former girlfriend of slain Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

“Yes, it’s true, the President sent his security people here,” Mbabazi told ChimpReports on a secure network on Friday morning.

“After security from State House came here, the situation cooled a little bit. There is no more tension as it was the case yesterday,” said Mbabazi.

ChimpReports broke the news that police on Thursday attempted to break through barriers set up by the military at Mbabazi’s residence to arrest her.

According to highly placed sources, President Museveni was recently briefed that Mbabazi had “high voltage” and “implicating information” in regard to Kaweesi’s murder.

The president was briefed that before his demise, Kaweesi had secretly recorded a tape in which he provided an in-depth account of his personal troubles.

It is suspected this tape was hidden by Mbabazi, who has been under the protection of ISO soldiers in Lungujja, a Kampala suburb.

Mbabazi said State House soldiers arrived at her residence at around 6:00pm on Thursday.

“Before the State House soldiers’ arrival, I was shouting at police who wanted to arrest me. I was asking myself, why they don’t want the truth to come out?” said Mbabazi.

“But Museveni’s soldiers have restored sanity. More ISO soldiers were deployed here to keep the police away. The situation is okay,” assured Mbabazi.

Mbabazi was on September 15 put under protection of ISO soldiers.

This followed fears that her life was in danger as she was a close associate of Kaweesi.

But she has since alleged that Lt Juuko Sserwanga of ISO is “conniving with people who want to kill me. I no longer trust him.”

This website could not independently verify this accusation.

Police spokesperson AIGP Asan Kasingye said he was yet to receive a brief on the matter.

Kaweesi was gunned down on March 17 as he left his residence in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb.

The killers stalked Kaweesi by disguising as though they were repairing their motorcycle.

On spotting Kaweesi’s vehicle, they first shot in the air to scare off possible rescuers and then fired bullets at its hind tyre.

The assassins would later spray bullets on the vehicle in which Kaweesi and his bodyguard were traveling, killing them instantly.

Several people have been arrested and charged with Kaweesi’s murder but the investigation into the incident has raised more questions than answers.
