Burundian Policeman Is Injured in Attack in Capital
A Burundian policeman was injured in an attack at a police station in the capital, Bujumbura, and investigations are underway to determine the identity of the attackers, spokesman Pierre Nkurikiye said on state radio.
Gunfire and explosions could be heard during the raid in the city’s Musaga district, Audilon Mahoro, a resident, said in a phone interview.
More than 130 people have died in violence since April when President Pierre Nkurunziza announced his candidature to serve a third term that his opponents say violates the nation’s constitutional. Nkurunziza was declared president after elections held in July.
