Fallen Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi’s Kololo based home has this evening been under heavy security scrutiny commanded by the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff Brig Leo Kyanda.

In operation, Brig Kyanda has withdrawn the UPDF guards assigned to Mr Mbabazi leaving with him a few police guards from the VVIP section.

The soldiers who are said to have arrived at the home at 4pm were sent to ‘collect’ soldiers that were formerly attached to the Prime Minister’s house.

“They said they had come to withdraw the soldiers and after that they left,” Ms Nina Mbabazi, Mbabazi’s daughter told reporters on phone.

Confirming the details to this paper, Amama Mbabazi’s spokesperson Josephine Mayanja Nkangi said the armed men were simply doing a ‘collection’ of their soldiers who have been at the residence when Amama was appointed Prime Minister.

Information available indicates that three police trucks and a military pick up together with a van are stationed at the home in Kololo.

Amama Mbabazi did not pick his phone despite repeated phone calls from our reporter.

When contacted, UPDF spokesperson Paddy Ankunda said he was calling the chief of Staff Leopold Kyanda to verify the details of the operation.

President Museveni last appointed the Health Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda as the new Prime Minister.

Dr. Rugunda replaced Amama Mbabazi who held the position from the 24th of May 2011 until 18th September 2014. The change was contained in a letter written to the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga dated 18/09/2014. In the letter President Museveni thanked Mbabazi for the contribution he has made to the country bu most political commentators insist the man from Kanungu was sacked for harbuoring presidential ambitions.
