Nine years ago today, Charles Ingabire’s life was taken by the mob of killers that highjacked RPF’s counter-revolution. Charles Ingabire’s journalistic integrity was a thorn in their shoes. He wanted them to account for their abuses of power, he stood up to their impunity armed only with his conscience and his pen. Charles was harassed, threatened, beaten, terrorized. He was forced into exile where he was pursued and gunned down.

The enemies of our country and our constitution wanted him silenced, but they failed. Rwanda still remembers him. We still remember him. We remember his uprightness, we remember his dedication to the truth, we remember his humbleness and dependability and we celebrate his spirit. It is his spirit that enables us to continue the good fight for freedom of speech. We are still at odds with politicians but we hold on to the values we shared, the values he defended with his life.

Inyenyeri News Group remembers Charles Ingabire today. Our brother, our friend, and mentor.
