Lt Gen Tumukunde Shot In Fort Portal

This website understands that he was allegedly shot by Military Police in the wee hours of Tuesday Morning.

It is also said that one of his military escorts was also shot.

They are both receiving medication at a clinic in Fort Portal.

According to a Local TV station, Tumukunde was hit by a teargas canister.

Lt Gen Tumukunde has been in Fort Portal for the past few days and has been campaigning for his son in the just concluded Western Youth MP elections.

His son Amanya Tumukunde lost the election to Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama, son to State Minister for agriculture Lt. Col. Bright Rwamirama.

Mwine Mpaka polled 660 votes while Amanya Tumukunde polled 463 votes.
