President Jakaya Kikwete chats with Tanzania’s ambassador to the US Liberata Mulamula who paid him a visit at the Johns Hopkins Hospital after surgery Sunday.

President Jakaya Kikwete has been discharged from the Johns Hopkins Hospital in the United States on Wednesday evening after a successful prostate gland surgery and moved to a special hotel under close medical supervision.

A statement issued in Dar es Salaam on Thursday by the Directorate of Presidential Communications said the hotel is having close working relationship with the hospital, which is located in Baltimore in the Province of Maryland.

President Kikwete, who is in the US for a health check-up, underwent a prostate gland surgery last Saturday. His condition has improved and he has started light exercises.

While at the special hotel, he will regularly be visited by doctors and nurses for a period of one week. According to the treatment plan, the president will later undergo another check-up to enable doctors decide on the next course of action, read the Ikulu statement in part.
