Kenya: Fmr. Nairobi Mayor Arrested For talk on swearing-in Odinga
Former Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa in neighboring Kenya was Saturday arrested for allegedly claiming former Prime Minister and CORD Leader Raila Odinga will be sworn into office as President on July 7, if President Uhuru Kenyatta fails to dialogue with the Opposition coalition.
Mr Aladwa, who also serves as the Nairobi County ODM Chairman allegedly warned that Uhuru must meet Raila. The CORD team, led by Raila, has held several rallies around the country and was Saturday at Muliro Gardens in Kakamega.
Alwadwa was taken to Central Police Station in Nairobi where he reportedly recoded a statement.
It was not clear if he was released later in the evening. Saturday, Raila said the move by DPP Keriako Tobiko to investigate politicians for hate speech was meant to intimidate the opposition.
