Great Lakes Human Rights Link has been informed from reliable sources in Kigali that Gen. Frank Rusagara was hospitalized to Kanombe Military Hospital. Unfortunately his family and close relatives have not been informed and his Brother in Law Col. Tom Byabagamba was furious despite being in prison himself and detained in different places by the Rwandan authorities meters away from each other.

The Rwandan authorities have a history and tradition of exterminating the detainees using the hospitals by injecting patients with poison.

For example the sudden death of Gen. Laurent Munyakazi in Prison was doctored by the Kagame security officials because according to the information obtained by the Great Lakes Human Rights Link, Gen.Laurent Munyakazi had told the RPF that they were not clean on the murders and questioned the Role of RPF and Kagme in Genocide.

We cannot also underestimate the mysterious death of other RPF senior cadres and fighters, like  Col Vedaste KAYITARE(INTARE BATINYA), Col. William Bagire, Col Stephen  Ndugute Kalisoliso, just to mention a few.  The Great Lakes Human Rights Link is seriously concerned with Gen. Rusagara’s safety because his family has not been informed; we therefore demand the Rwandan government to let the family of Gen. Rusagara  know the current health status of their relative.

We also urge the Rwandan government to accord Gen Rusagara necessary security and safety against the Rwandan security forces who operate outside the law. The Safety of Gen. Rusagara is a fundamental human right that Rwanda has an obligation under its own laws and those of international law.
