Deported Rwandan refugees still holed up at Kigali airport

The two deported Rwandan refugees are still at Kigali airport after the Rwandese authorities denied them entry saying they did not have documents to permit them entry.

“We spoke with one of them and he told us they are still at the airport. The embassy told them they did not have papers so they are not sure if they Rwandese or not…. So they are still stranded at the airport,” said their Lawyer Dickson Jere.

The Zambian government on Monday through the office of the president (OP) special division kidnapped two Rwandese, including a famous medical doctor of UTH, and secretly deported them to Rwanda as genocide suspects.

The two were kidnapped and detained in  Kalundu where the OP maintains a safe house. They were handcuffed and blindfolded before they were taken to the airport and put on the notorious air Rwanda, which is used to secretly ferry genocide suspects.

“It was a big operation. They were AK 47s all over when a convoy took them to the airport in the night” a witness said.

The UTH Doctor, who been treating patients for over 10 years in Zambia is Egibe Rwasibo and a businessman innocent habumugisha. Previous Zambian governments had refused to deport the Rwanda refuses as most of them were born in Zambia and studied in Zambia but yet they are appear on the list of those who participated in the 1994 genocide. Many analysts believe it was political.
