Dividing Rwandans while demonizing and accusing those who want to unite them of divisionism is  probably Kagame ‘s greatest accomplishment to this day . Preaching unity , Rwandanness and Reconciliation  while at the same time doing everything to frustrate that unity . Kagame  has made Rwandanness painful and only allowed superficial reconciliation.

The only safe option he has given Rwandans is obedience . Mad obedience. Rwandans reading this know I am telling it like it is .

Divide and Rule has always been Kagame’s policy from the early days of RPF. His idea of harmony is distress he can keep a lid on. People praise him for all the wrong reasons .

Take Kigali’s clean streets for example ,  most people confuse the neatness of the streets of Kigali with economic progress but do not  see the manicured lawns and clean streets of Kigali as a demonstration of Kagame ‘s control and hold on the 90% of Rwandans struggling  and malcontent in his Rwanda.

The Rwandan people is  frustrated by the lack of freedom of expression, oppressing impunity , and economic regiment  that amounts to no less than cruelty. Rwandans are frustrated by Kagame’s tyrannic rule , but they will keep his streets clean and lawns  routinely tidied because he has managed to control them. Traditionally, power is the one thing we understand and respect as Rwandans. We pledge allegiance to the one who takes power, and so far it has always been taken by force.

Apart from a very small group of people , everyone  in Rwanda is frustrated with Kagame’s regime but no one dares to be the first one to stop clapping. Opportunists are watching and  waiting for the next powerful man/ woman to emerge so that they can turn their backs on Kagame and pledge allegiance to the new patron.

Power in Rwanda can make men turn into pathetic spectacles. Grown men perjure themselves bending for the powerful man. The antics of Nduhungirehe , Bamporiki and recently JMV Gatabazi come to mind…

Kagame’s power  demands blind obedience and following over the cliff.

We all agree it is time things changed in Rwanda . It is time to put our nation first . We must put an end to this madness and pledge allegiance to our country alone once and for all . We must take the power from the leader and give it to the rule of law. But, we cannot get there  before becoming one people , and we cannot become one people until we make the issue of reconciliation personal at every individual level…and  for that , we must find in ourselves the courage to let go of prejudice and speak our first hand truth.
