CHOGM 2020 was due to take place in Kigali this coming June under the theme: “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming”; until the concerning spread of the coronavirus in Rwanda ( 11 cases in 5 days ) put a question mark on the highly anticipated event.

The Ministry of Health has issued a detailed statement including a situation update and travel advisory stating the suspension of flights ( both incoming and outgoing ) in an attempt to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus.

In spite of these developments, Kigali continues to gear up in preparation for CHOGM 2020 with RDB’s Clare Akamanzi hosting the business community briefing and Ambassador Nduhungirehe doing the same with ” Parliament“.

Faithful to its theme this year, will Chogm 2020 innovate and connect delegates through videoconference? Is Rwanda ready to organize a meeting of that scale using the latest technology?
