The Princess and the Golden Bird
Many years ago in a kingdom far away, there lived a princess. She had long blue hair and loved bluebells that everybody called her Princess Bluebell. Every evening after dusk, Princess Bluebell went on the balcony. A golden bird came flying out of nowhere and sat on her shoulder. Instantly princess Bluebell’s hair began to shine, ablaze with brilliant blue light.
When the bird started to warble an enchanting tune, the Princess joined it in a song, and everyone in the kingdom fell asleep and had sweet dreams till the break of dawn.
The years passed, and every evening the Princess and the golden bird sang songs so the kingdom would fall asleep and have sweet dreams till the break of dawn.
Until one day, something terrible happened, a wicked witch learnt about Princess Bluebell and decided to curse her. “Abracadabra Sim-Bala-Bim may the Bluebell’s colour dim!” The witch said, then the Princess’s hair turned black as tar.
That evening, too, the Princess clapped her hands, the golden bird came but instead of her hair glowing blue her hair glowed black, but still began to sing the song. Everyone in the kingdom fell asleep but had bad dreams and nightmares.
On the following day the Princess asked the bird “how do I get the kingdom to sleep in peace again.” “Black hair in blue water.” Replied the bird. The Princess filled a big cup of bright blue water and dipped her hair in it and it instantly turned blue again.
The wicked witch’s curse had failed and everybody in the kingdom had good dreams again.
The end.
