Kagame’s officers on Muhoozi’s tweet: ” Some of us can still recognize a mousetrap when we see one.”
Since his endorsement by Kigali followed by the mediatic border near-opening, Lt Gen Muhoozi’s presidential aspiration is slowly sinking into everyone’s minds. We have all taken note of his “surrender to recover” tactic with regards to the Rwanda-Uganda contention, we understand his fervor in creating compelling spectacles and his efforts in “courting attention at all costs”.
Gen Muhoozi has secured a cult-like following, he has a commendable ability to play to people’s fantasies. After all, power is a game of charades that only yields to the most dedicated performers.
Two RDF officers that we were able to speak to on the matter of these tweets had this to say :
–“…Kandiho’s reinstatement was more of an embarrassment to him (Muhoozi) than it was to us. The old man (Mzee Museveni) must have had his reasons to remind him who was boss…He may be trying to save face by making things clear with regards to that organization ( RNC) because of that demotion/promotion that did not happen.”
The second officer was less impressed:
–” …Anyone can tweet, Rwanda and Uganda’s problems would need more than tweets to be resolved. It is hard to believe that a commander of that caliber has yet to “find out” people who belong to the RNC agenda ( a foreign organization deemed terrorist organization by the very neighbor he is seeking to make peace with) on his territory! We are not all easily duped, some of us can still recognize a mousetrap when we see one. I do not understand why Lt Gen Muhoozi feels the need for interventions of the sort on a social media platforms especially if they will not be followed by concrete actions. The guarantees we need from Uganda cannot be given to us in the form of sweet talk on social media.”
If Lt Gen Muhoozi has a hidden agenda, he is doing an excellent job at concealing it. The question many continue to ask themselves upon reading Lt Gen’s Muhoozi tweets is: Is he acting alone or is he acting as Mzee Museveni’s delegate in the grand scheme of things?
