Sylidio Dusabumuremyi was unknown until his death

Sylidio Dusabumuremyi, the reported coordinator of the FDU Inkingi, political group of Ingabire Victoire Umuhoza, was killed by professionals, according to her.

Dusabumuremyi was on Monday evening around 9:30pm stabbed to death in his canteen which he operated inside the Shyogwe hospital in Muhanga district, southern province.

The Rwanda Investigations Bureau (RIB) announced on Tuesday morning that it had arrested two suspects in connection with the murder. Due process would follow, said RIB.

However, Ingabire, who was pardoned by President Paul Kagame from a 15-year jail sentence, has gone on the offensive – connecting the death of Dusabumuremyi to other members of her unregistered political party killed in the past year.

In what seems to be cleverly choreographed interviews with local and foreign media, Ingabire says the people who killed Dusabumuremyi are “trained professionals” with expertise in killing with knives and other similar weapons.

Ingabire said she had seen the body of the deceased with stab-marks that show show the killers knew what they were doing. There is no injury to show there was a struggle with the attackers.

She has not categorically accused the security forces, but her statements are clearly insinuating the killers are not ordinary criminals, but trained assassins.

Sylidio Dusabumuremyi, according to Ingabire, was her party coordinator. The name has not been a house-hold name and was unknown until his death.
