Aronda Was Murdered, We Are To Avenge – Brig Kasirye Gwanga

As the country continues to mourn the sudden death of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Gen Aronda Nyakairima, the controversial Luwero bush war hero, Brig Gen Kasirye Gwanga has warned that they are to avenge his death.

While appearing in an interview on NBS Tv Sunday, Kasirye, a close friend of the late said that the Gen had been murdered.
To support his claim, Kasirye, who was shedding tears said he had previously been told by Aronda of a threatening phone call he received as Minister of Internal Affairs in connection with certain objections that he (Nyakairima) was raising about the national identity card register at the ministry.

Kasirye Gwanga, who is also the presidential adviser on security matters in Buganda declared that he and fellow army officers would avenge Aronda’s death.
Gen Aronda was Saturday found dead on flight aboard United Emirates plane as he was returning from the South Korean capital, Seoul, where he led a government team to explore acquisition of equipment for the national Identity card project.
Aronda, who was army commander for 10 years is remembered for having led ‘Operation Iron Fist’ that drove Joseph Kony permanently out of Uganda.
He also presided over the professionalization of the army for ten years and as Minister of Internal Affairs; he implemented the registration of citizens for the national identity card and revamped the immigration services.
