Florence Amuge is a resident of Opiiro village, Olelai parish, Kaperikira Sub County in Kaberamaido district.

Amuge gave birth to four healthy babies, three girls and one boy, on Saturday, November 2  by cesarean section at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital in Soroti district.

They were delivered at 4:00 pm on Saturday.

The first baby Apio weighed 2.35 kilograms (kgs), second (Achen) 1.75kg, third Okello weighed 1.5 kgs while Adongo the fourth weighed 1.4kgs.

Doctors say this is the first time quadruplets are born in Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.

Amuge is married to Simon Oromo (52). Oromo is a farmer and a resident of Opiiro village, Olelai parish, Kaperikira Sub County in Kaberamaido district.

Although joyful for the addition to his family, Oromo is concerned about how he will be able to look after all his children.

He appeals to good Samaritans to help him take care of the babies.

Oromo said that if his wife is discharged from Hospital, he does not have transport from Soroti Regional referral Hospital back to his home in Kaberamaido district.

Yuven Ajali, a cousin to Oromo, said that they are willing to give away the babies to good Samaritans who are ready to take care of them.

Dr. Mary Assunpta Aduk said that the children were in good condition apart from their mother who is yet to fully recover from the shock.

Aduk noted that Amuge thought she was carrying three babies by the time she went into labour.

She pointed out that initially the doctors from their physical examination thought that Amuge had three babies inside her uterus. The ultrasound scan results also seemed to show three babies.

Aduk explained that, Amuge was admitted in Soroti Regional Referral hospital three month backs because she had complications in her pregnancy.

She says Amuge will be discharged after one week.
