Police in Kabale Town on Thursday nightstormed the studios of Voice of Kigezi radio and stopped a talk show involving Bishop (rtd) Zac Niringiye and FDC leader Mugisha Muntu.
The show hosted by Namanya Santurina, which was about electoral reforms, had lasted 30 minutes when police officers led by the Kabale District Police Commander, Mr Bosco Arop, stopped it.

Police had earlier on deployed outside the station but Bishop Niringiye and Gen (rtd) Muntu beat the cordon and entered the radio premises.
Mr Arop ordered the halting of the programme and asked Gen Muntu and Bishop Niringiye to leave, sparking off a bitter argument.

The police action angered many residents, who came to the radio premises, demanding an explanation.
Gen Muntu accused the police of overstepping their boundaries.

Bishop Niringiye told journalists that he was not surprised by the police action, saying they had earlier in the day ordered Hope Radio and Kabale Freedom Radio not to host them.

The district police commander accused Gen Muntu and Bishop Niringiye of inciting violence and disturbing peace
