Daniel Sturridge: Chelsea striker believes the Blues are still in the title race
Daniel Sturridge believes Chelsea are still in the title race despite losing ground on the top three at the weekend.
Jordi Gomez scored a late equaliser at the DW Stadium as Wigan came from behind to earn a precious point.
The draw sees Chelsea now sit nine points behind leaders Manchester City, while Manchester United are seven points ahead and Spurs have a two-point advantage with a game in hand.
But in-form Sturridge, who scored the opener at the DW, believes there is everything to play for and the Blues, Liverpool and Arsenal are also still in the title hunt.
The Blues ace told the club’s official website: “It is frustrating for everyone and it is important that we bounce back, which we will.
“We have done that in the last few weeks when we have had difficult games and we have stepped up, and we will step up in the next game and continue to fight for the Premier League.
Believe
“It is the best league in the world because every team in the top six can win it. We are one of them and I believe we can.
“There are still five months to go and I think people would be stupid to assume Chelsea are out of the title race. We are going to fight to the very last game.”
“I am happy with how it is going personally but collectively for me is more important and I would have loved to have come away with three points and I hadn’t have scored,” he added.
“I thought we would win the game but we were unlucky, and I am certainly going to be working as hard as I can to make sure we win every game. We need to keep clean sheets and we need to score more goals.
“We are a close unit and Saturday was just a bad day for us because we conceded a late goal, but we performed well and we will come back stronger the next game, we will make sure we will fight harder the next game and make sure we don’t concede late goals.”

Hot damn, looking pretty ufesul buddy.
I don’t think we could get him, and our money will probably have to be spent on ecfdnee and central midfield anyway. But Sturridge would be a great signing and would form a fantastic partnership as a second striker alongside Bent. Great movement, great build up play and scores goals as well. Also remember we had him, but let him go to Man City as a youth player. In the immortal words of Homer Simpson .D’OH!
