RWANDA: FDLR Plan To Topple Kagame In 120 Days From Congo
Jean de Dieu Ntakirutimana and Jean de Dieu Mugaboniki told journalists at Kicukiro Police Station, Kigali on Monday that they were responsible for planting and detonating the July 26 grenades that killed two people and injured scores which was part of a wider plan to destabilize the country.
They further noted they received the grenades from FDLR Col. Enock Bizimana who instructed them to detonate the explosives from the crowded Nyabugogo taxi park, promising the suspects big rewards after the current government has been overthrown.
“Col. Bizimana promised to reward us for detonating the explosives as soon as FDLR captures power which we were told would happen in the not-too-distant future – before January 2014,†said Ntakirutimana after being paraded by Police.
The confessions come at a time when the DRC and Rwanda are at loggerheads over Kinshasha’s alleged support to FDLR.
The Human Rights Watch recently asked DRC government to suspend, investigate, and prosecute as appropriate Congolese civilias and military officials responsible for aiding and abetting war crimes by the FDLR and allied armed groups.
UN officials and former Hutu militia fighters told Human Rights Watch that some factions of these groups have received support from Congolese military personnel.
Recent attacks
The Nyabugogo incidents were the latest in a string of grenade attacks in Kigali and cross border bombings.
Drawing majority of its leaders and fighters from the perpetrators of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, FDLR elements on November 27, 2012 attacked Rwanda Defence Forces’ positions at Muti, in Cyanzarwe Sector, Kabuhanga and Hehu in Bugeshi sector of Rubavu district.
16 FDLR militants were killed and several others injured.
FDLR’s Cpl Girukwayo Martin would later tell journalists at the scene that the attack was conducted by a total of 250 FDLR elements commanded by Maj Ruhinda.
Some FDLR criminals were putting on FARDC uniforms, and heavily armed with machine guns and Rocket propelled grenades.
“This is confirmation that rebels in DRC get arms and other military supplies from the stock piles of DRC, and Rwanda is vindicated from accusations of supplying M23 as alleged by DRC and some in the international communityâ€, Brig Gen Joseph Nzabamwita, RDF Spokesperson, told journalists who were visiting the place last year.
DRC disagrees with reports that it supports the militia. Instead, Kinshasha blames Rwanda for propping up the rebel M23 Movement in Eastern Congo, a charge Kigali vehemently denies.

I wonder if you do accept this false accusation. FDLR is not respossible for planting and detonating granades. As long as you know Kagame and his pupates ( aba technician) they are trying to lie the world and looking the alibi of keeping the citizen in fear. The real people that plant granades are well known. They are in security services, we know them , are our brothers and sons. It is the time to call upon God to serve us from the evil.
Ariko FPR i bona ko ndinde utazi ayo macenga yayo, grenades zatezwe na ba techniciens ba FPR,na bo bigira ngo batummwe na FDRL sibo nimitwe ya FPR ngo barangaze amahanga, ariko byose byarangiye FPR iri mumarembera…..
