CHOGM 2022: KAGAME INSISTS INGABIRE SHOULD BE IN PRISON AND RUSESABAGINA IS WHERE HE BELONGS!
Candidly -and surprisingly calmly- Kagame lectured BBC’s Ann Soy on democracy and human rights in Rwanda, on the person of Victoire Ingabire and her place in Rwandan politics, on the fate of Rusesabagina and on the issue of migration & the deal between Rwanda and the UK to adress the networks involved in “disorderly ” migration.
President Kagame certainly knows how to cross examine the bearers of discomfiting questions. He has come a long way. However, Rwanda is not just a country where there is room for improvement. Something should be done with regards to easing the climate of fear centralized around the person of the president by his very greedy entourage.
Also, 28 years after a genocide is, in my opinion, a little too early to brag about our strong institutions. It may be a patriotic vote of confidence, but it is quite a premature one . Strong institutions do not need to resolve to blackmail or threats or bodily harm to obtain results aimed at benefiting the country they are built to serve.
