I do not mean to be the killjoy on Rwanda’s Twitter celebration over Maj. Gen. Abel Kandiho’s “demotion”, but I have to say our cousins are so predictable and naive. Rwandans are so proud, they think the world revolves around their thousand hills. Don’t get me wrong, patriotic sentiment is admirable but when it comes to politics, we in Uganda have learned to look at issues with a little more sapience.

Let me break it down for you:

  1. Kandiho was Sanctioned by the US. His Assets in America remain frozen and in case you did not know this, Sevo had already made arrangements to send him to Sudan before Muhoozi’s “uncle Tweet” and visit to Kigali.
  2. What you call a demotion and/or a sack looks more like a retirement package!
  3. When engaging in mind game wars, beware of old leopards, especially when they know your weaknesses. They have been known to be meticulous and patient in their deceit.

Rwanda is celebrating like a newlywed who wins an argument with his wife only to find out there are no such victories in a man’s world.

Suppose Muhoozi went to Kigali with an offer his uncle could not refuse…

Of course, I could be wrong, and uncle Kagame and Muhoozi were just doing this “for show”, one of those “boons for the people”, in which case Rwanda really is enjoying the exposure.

Kandiho is fine and no, he has not been demoted. Calm yourselves.
