I wish to comment on the Nigerian student’s interview that left young Rwandan men all self-conscious about their “ play”.

“Rwandan Men Are Boring, We Need More Men Here”- Tomiwa’s Abroad Life

The lady claims Rwandan men are lethargic, sluggish, stingy, boring to death, defensive, mediocre, and dull!

I could not help finding her assessment of our men to be a little harsh; Rwandans, in general, are hard to read and easily misunderstood, so I am offering a  better assessment of what our Nigerian visitor has, in my opinion, erroneously perceived …

First of all, Rwandan men are not lethargic, they are “chill “. They’re snobs, not sluggish. And they are not stingy. Those who spend randomly on women are generally players; the serious ones will invest in one woman. So if a Rwandan man is not spending on you, it is probably because he is not available. Rwandan men are not boring, they are endearing, and they are respectful of foreigners which will give the impression of them being distant. They will appear to be defensive because they are reserved and passionate at the same time.

Lastly,  any man who is not interested in a woman looking for attention will appear mediocre and dull to her; Rwandan men prefer Rwandan women in general. They cherish their culture. They treasure their women.

And as far as Rwandan men being dull, in comparison to the flamboyant exuberance of Nigerian men, ours are certainly restrained irredeemable machos!

However, I agree with the interviewee on the fact that the service in restaurants definitely could be improved; when you are in a hurry, opt for the self-service buffet, it is popular for good reasons…
