Ecclesiastes 3: 15- 18

“God will call the past to account.  I saw something else under the sun: There is wickedness where justice should be found. There is wickedness where righteousness should be found.  I thought to myself, “God will judge righteous people as well as wicked people, because there is a specific time for every activity and every work that is done.”  I thought to myself, “God is going to test humans in order to show them that they are [like] animals.”

I will again apologize to those who are not Christians, but these words hit my mind and shake my brain, they tear my heart into pieces when I see people who were worshiped, feared, when they are now helpless and hopeless. Do human beings really learn from what they see or feel touched when they see others suffering?

For those who don’t know   Muhammad Hosni El Sayed Mubarak, he was appointed Vice President of Egypt in 1975, and assumed the presidency on 14 October 1981, following the assassination of President Anwar El Sadat. His almost thirty-year presidency made him Egypt’s longest-serving ruler since Muhammad Ali Pasha. Before he entered politics, Mubarak was a career officer in the Egyptian Air Force, serving as its commander from 1972 to 1975 and rising to the rank of air chief marshal. Like his counterpart in Rwanda, he was a darling of the United States and her allies. Indeed, apart from Israel, Egypt under Mubarak was and still is world’s second largest recipient of US aid.

Like Gen. Noriega, Dr. Jonas Savimbi, Gen Pinochet just to mention a few were cherished and honored, praised by the State Department, received prestigious medals from abroad  and huge sums of money from the American Taxpayers, but all didn’t know and did not learn from History.

It astonishes me when some people think that they are immune and bullet proofed against these political shocks. Human beings are mortal; killing a fellow human being for the sake of retaining power is not only a misguided belief but also trait of animal character. As I have mentioned above many of the world’s most repressive dictators have been friends of the West. Tyrants, torturers, killers, and sundry dictators and corrupt puppet-presidents have been aided, supported, and rewarded handsomely for their loyalty to West interests. Traditional dictators seize control through force, while constitutional dictators hold office through voting fraud or severely restricted elections, and are frequently puppets and apologists for the military juntas which control the ballot boxes. In any case, none have been democratically elected by the majority of their people in fair and open elections.

They are democratic West’s undemocratic allies. They may rise to power through bloody West-backed coups and rule by terror and torture. Their troops may receive training or advice from the West and their agencies.

The West military aid and weapons sales often strengthen their armies and guarantee their hold on power. Unwavering “anti-communism” and a willingness to provide unhampered access for  the West business interests to exploit their countries’ natural resources and cheap labor are the excuses for their repression, and the primary reason the  West governments support them.

They usually grow rich, while their countries’ economies deteriorate and the majority of their people live in poverty. US tax dollars and US-backed loans have made billionaires of some, while others are international drug dealers who also collect CIA paychecks. Rarely are they called to account for their crimes. And rarely still, is the US government held responsible for supporting and protecting some of the worst human rights violators in the world.

Below is the list of the worst dictators who ruled their respective countries with an Iron fist yet they received billions of the West in form of aid and loans, but they end up in the fire of eternity. Will our leaders be helped by this list and learn a lesson, may be they can save themselves and their families from humiliation.
