Breaking News: RNC do not wash your dirty linen in public
We are saddened by the follow out of the Rwanda National Congress but most importantly the way they are washing their linen in Public without due consideration to their supporters and Rwandans in general.
For any party, democracy can only work and blossom when there are well-functioning and effective structures. Regardless of individual ideology, it’s essential for deepening and fostering the democratic culture. This is true for both established as well as emerging democratic Parties. However, as has been evidenced in many instances, RNC has faced challenges in serving its purpose, especially one of providing checks and balances within the party.
Often more than not, they have to grapple with matters of internal conflicts, gaining legitimacy at their initial stages, retention of membership, acquiring or keeping popularity, and, above all, surviving the political competition.
The major sticking difficulty that, nonetheless, confronts RNC and other Rwandan opposition parties is their struggle to remain united as individual organizations. In my view, party unity is the most important factor for any political party to remain politicallyrelevant as well as to stay afloat in competitive politics.
It is even more desirable in our country where the electorate is not well enlightened and illiterate. On the other hand, infighting inevitably erodes party cohesion and unity of purpose.
It strips away the much needed ability to put up a common front on Kagame dictatorial regime and will inevitably bear disastrous results for RNC within and outside (International Community).
We have consistently advised RNC to stop intrigues and bickering, understanding that they can serve the party and Rwandans in general without necessary being in the ranks of leadership. We shall continue to maintain our policy of impartiality, professionalism and independence in informing the Rwandan people what is happening in your house without fear or favor.
