The Rwandan Community in the UK invites you to the 21st memorial Service for the Rwandan Genocide and other crimes against Humanity committed in Rwanda and in the Great Lakes Region.

Why? The 1994 genocide claimed the lives of about one million Rwandans. It was preceded and followed by mass killings and crimes against humanity both in Rwanda and in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In DRC alone, about 6 million souls were killed. Till today, the Rwandan community is divided along ethnic lines and reconciliation is still a remote dream. Rwandans continue to be persecuted, imprisoned, tortured and killed because of their opinions. The Rwandan Community in the UK is happy to invite you to this event where Hutus, Tutsis and Twas will be free to express their feelings about our tragic history and pray Together. We can only truly give respect to our loved ones whose lives were sacrificed during those horrendous events by standing together and say “Never Again”. Please come and support us.
The prayers will be followed by a workshop to reflect on how Rwandans can work together with support from the International Community to achieve peace and long lasting reconciliation both with themselves and with neighbours of Rwanda.

Undi mwaka uratashye nyuma y’amakuba yagwiriye u Rwanda kuva muri 1990.  Abanyarwanda – ababyeyi, abavandimwe n’inshuti – twabuze muri genocide ya 1994 n’ibyaha byibasiye inyokomuntu byayibanjirije n’ibyayikurikiye haba mu Rwanda, muri Congo no mu yandi mahanga  ni benshi cyane.Ubu bwicanyi ndengakamere bwakozwe n’abanyarwanda kandi bukorerwa abanyarwanda b’inzirakarengane. Muri uyu mwaka wa 2016 Abanyarwanda bagihekurwa n’ingoma ya FPR yagiyeho muri iriya mivu y’amaraso ni benshi. Abanyarwanda baracyatotezwa, bagafungwa, bakicwa rubozo ndetse n’imirambo yabo ikajugunwa mu migezi, mu biyaga no mu nyanja kubera ibitekerezo byabo no kutabona ibintu kimwe n’ubutegetsi.

Ibi bitwereka ko Kwibuka konyine  bidahagije. N’ubwo abacu bagiye tukibakumbuye,bakagenda tukibakunze; n’ubwo bashiki bacu bafashwe ku ngufu abana bacu b’ibitambambuga bakicwa, abasaza, abakecuru tukababura; mureke tubibuke ariko twere guheranwa n’amateka. Icyo badushakaho ni uko igitambo batanze tutagipfusha ubusa, ahubwo tukubaka igihugu buri munyarwanda wese afitemo umudendezo, aho buri wese avuga ati “Harabaye ntihakabe, buriya bwicanyi ntibuzongere ukundi mu rwatubyaye”.
