Zuma stranded in Burundi
President Jacob Zuma is stranded in Burundi after his private jet experienced some technical problems.
“President Zuma was unable to leave Burundi when his aircraft Inkwazi developed technical problems,” presidency’ spokesperson, Bongani Majola said in a statement.
He visited the country to meet with other Heads of State over peace talks.
In a statement published yesterday, Zuma said: “We have had very fruitful and robust meetings with a cross section of representatives of Burundi and we have just finished the last meeting with His Excellency President Nkurunziza. All decisions of the visit will be communicated through the appropriate channels in a Communique to be issued tomorrow”
According to News24, Zuma is likely to miss the 16th Annual National Teaching Awards that will be held in Johannesburg today.
Deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa will step in his place at the event.
