“This is a coal train, we shall build an electric train.”

He said the electric train will be taking three hours to reach Mombasa instead of the current one which take three days.

The commuter passenger train links Namanve and Kampala at a fee of Shs1,500.

The train that operates four shifts starts at 6:30am from Namanve reaching Kampala station at 7:30am in the first shift.

The last shift starts at 5.30pm from Kampala and gets to Namanve at 6.15pm.

Mbabazi who was canvassing for support in Wakiso also addressed rallies in Kasokoso and Kasangati.

He said he will create low cost housing facilities for urban poor residents and improve health.

“I have also been to Kasokoso and I pledge that government will look into the possibility of low cost housing and improved healthcare for the area,” he said.

He also spoke about the need for the Advanced Sub-county Model which will increase productivity. He elaborated the model in his manifesto.
