MEXICANS ABROAD: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW
As of today, six Mexicans with national team experience will participate in Europe’s most prestigious club competition. The Champions League draw took place on Thursday, and here are the opponents Hector Herrera and company will be facing starting September.
Mexico national team captain Andres Guardado and PSV newcomer Hector Moreno will take part in Group B against Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez and Manchester United. Also in Group B, CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg of Germany.
Raul Jimenez will pay a visit to his former club as Benfica were drawn in Group C with Atletico Madrid. Turkey’s Galatasaray and Kazakhstan’s FC Astana, who will be making their first appearance in the Champions League, complete the group.
In Group F, Alan Pulido and Olympiacos will play hosts to German champions Bayern Munich along with Premier League side Arsenal, and Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia.
Lastly, Hector Herrera and FC Porto will try to match their excellent run of last season by starting their campaign in Group G against Premier League champions Chelsea, Ukraine’s Dynamo Kyiv, and Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel.
