Burundi closes borders with Rwanda
As more refugees keep entering Rwanda, a tiny neighboring country with Burundi with almost the same problems, many refugees have refused to be repatriated back home citing security concerns from the Burundi pro – government Militia imbonerakure.
Despite President Nkurunziza’s presence in Kirundo recently appealing to these refugees that Burundi is safe, we have obtained reliable information that Rwanda(RPF) spin doctors are busy infiltrating these refugees advising them to turn down their President’s appeal to go back home.
The Burundi’s President Appeal comes after he had sent another delegation to Rwanda to convince them to go back, the refugees, mostly from Kirundo Province in northern Burundi, said security remained a pressing issue.
Kagame is playing the game of being the only saint and peace maker in the region so that his plans of extending his rule will entirely depend on the instability in the region. He will argue that the problems of Rwanda are unique, and need unique solutions as he said in the recent concluded press conference in his official office Village Urugwiro.
The Rwandan (RPF) officials have already coached some of the refuges like Stan Rutsikiri, from Ntega commune, who is now in a transit camp in Bugesera District, to say that, he could not repatriate unless a militia locally known in Burundi as Imbonerakure stopped harassing them. While it’s true, the FDD/CNDD ruling party of Peter Nkurunziza has created this armed Militia, the scale of violence is more exaggerated by the Rwandan media on the orders of President Kagame.
“We can’t go back to Burundi since Imbonerakure are terrifying us. They throw stones at our houses; they beat us, saying we are opposed to the ruling party. Having seen that we were in danger, we fled and we can’t go back unless there is adequate security,” one of the refugees said
The News times and Rushashya the mouth piece of RPF have consistently had an interest in what is happening in Burundi. When President Kagame wanted to emphasize why he wants to change the constitution, he argued that he is loved by Rwandans, and Rwandans don’t want him to go. He gave an example that if he was told by the Rwandan people to go, he would not even finish his term. Little did many know that Kagame was referring to what is happening in Burundi, where many Burundians are now demanding their President not to temper with their constitution?
Rwanda is the most dangerous country in the region, more than Somalia even in the Al shabab controlled zones when it comes to those who have different political views from those of Kagame. We have further learnt that, the former Minister of Sports and Labour leader Portais Mitali did not agree on the extension of the Kagame Term and also the killing of Rwigara Assinapol. This did not go well in the stomach of Kagame and his insiders, they fabricated that Mitali embezzled 50 M FRW from his own party. These cases of embezzlement or terrorist charges are not new to those who decide to part ways with RPF.
Unfortunately what the Rwandan news papers like New times or Rushyashya are reporting and what they want the world to believe is quite different from what is happening in Burundi. Rwanda policy in the region has been and still is to destabilize the whole region so that Kagame looks as the only angel in the world of devils The international community and the Donors should not be fooled by Kagame’s lies as he did when Rwanda was supporting Congolese rebels.
Kagame has been all the time denying any involvement in the Congo conflict, once considered as an exemplar of post-conflict reconstruction, Rwanda under Kagame has been increasingly involved in mass killings and internal repression of its own citizens and external meddling. Donor support must be a condition for Kagame to change the course of meddling in its neighbors affairs and be stopped from changing the Rwandan Constitution. Rwanda’s key international partners, like US and UK, should face President Paul Kagame on this matter of destabilizing its neighbors for his own political interests.
The closing of the borders will not help to solve the problem, Kagame’s plans are to destabilize Burundi, what the Burundi officials should do is to address this issue with Rwanda, but also inform the international community that Rwanda is not a good neighbor, President Nkuruzniza should know this better than any other leader in the region, as his two predecessors have been killed by Kagame’s proxies.
